The nose opens with red fruit, herbs and a hint of cedar and dusty mushrooms. Cherry cough drops, cherry syrup and floral notes lead to a round mouth and a soft finish

Pairing Suggestion: Herb-crusted pork tenderloin

Tasted again after bottling, April 2016: this is a light, pale, delicate, savoury and salty pinot, almost rosé-like it's so pale and gentle, but with fine length and deceptive depth. I've bumped this up a couple of points for the sheer drinkability, delicacy and refined nature of the wine - seekers of rich and full-bodied reds need not apply here. This is all about the saliva-inducing character, absent any new wood flavour, but clearly made in an oxidative style complete with a touch of lees-derived flavours. You'll be surprised how long this wine lingers on the palate. Be sure to enjoy with a slight chill. Infinitely drinkable. Score: 90
