2015 Closson Chase Vineyard Chardonnay VQA PEC
|Alcohol content:||12.5 %|
|Cellaring potential:||3-5 years|
Wood smoke, toast, butter, nectarine skin and cream open in the glass. Citrus, floral, and mineral persist through the finish. Mouth feel is full with balanced acid. The finish is long and complete displaying barrel contribution as well as the return of the nectarine skin.
Pairing suggestion: Lobster Crepes with Hollandaise
...the extra concentration that natural crop thinning brought is also in evidence here, offering genuine density and weight, yet still on a county-light 12.5% alcohol frame. This is more than a nod to Chablis at a very high level, premier or even grand cru, given barrel fermentation but just a kiss of barrel flavour...terrific length, terrific stuff. Tasted June 2017.

This fairly deeply coloured, lemon-shaded chardonnay has a ripe, custardy nose of peach, vanilla, gentle nutmeg, cedar shaving and toast. Vaguely nutty as well - overall the complexity is admirable. It is full bodied, quite plush, yet built on fine acidity. There is a sense of poise here while at the same time the flavours are quite rich. The focus and length are excellent. Tasted June 2017

strawcolour; tropical fruit nose with oak spice; clove and green pineapple flavour, rich and full on the palate with lively acidity and vanilla oak notes.
